Why are some girls and guys mean to other girls and guys?

Hii i really want an answer to this why are popular kids mean to unpopular kids its getting on my nreves just to see people get bullied i want to know whats wrong with the unpopular kids cause i cant stand seeing kids crying because of bullying i do stand up for me and them but it never works i ask this question to them but they never tell me why
