How Can I Make More Friends?

I'm quite unpopular, not because I'm mean or anyyy of that I just am, I have about three friends but I do love them to bits, but I really want to make more friends next year (year 10) How do I approach new people and get to be more 'socially active' and well liked. I feel like by getting more friends It would help with my confidence, dating ( I'm 14 and never had a boyfriend, never been asked out...:/) and just having more fun? What should I do?
